Lokta paper is made from the fibrous bark of the Daphne cannabina, known locally as Lokta, which thrives at high altitudes in the Himalayas. The bark is boiled and beaten with wooden mallets to create a pulp that is poured into wooden frames and sun-dried. The resulting Lokta paper is not only strong and attractive but can also be dyed, stenciled, printed, and transformed into a variety of stunning paper products.
